As you gear up to go on a mission trip with The Edge, your preparation is crucial to the
effectiveness of your short-term mission project.
We don’t mean to be harsh, but unprepared
groups can damage the credibility of our witness in an area. We do our
best to uphold the credibility of the host church and local pastor.
We
guard against losing the trust of the people and the faith of a youth
group, and your partnership with us is crucial in achieving that goal. A well-prepared group will be greater blessing to the host church, result in better quality ministry, and will glorify God even more.
The Edge’s Missions 101 Group Leader’s Manual will walk you through
everything you’ll need to prepare for before your departure. You’ll have
step-by-step directions and handouts that you may reproduce for the
members of your group. We’ll include culture-specific information about
your project, too, along with other relevant information regarding your specific location and ministry. You can cover all the material in eight sessions.
Please encourage your group to learn and prepare skills such as mime, drama, puppetry, VBS, music ministry, and whatever else might be appropriate for the given area.
The members of your group will be entering spiritual war zones
unlike any they have ever experienced. Please encourage them to read
their Bibles and pray together as often as possible before the trip.
This will not be like watching a movie
or playing a video game of good versus evil. Each member of your team
will have a real-life opportunity to be used by our Living God to
change the eternal destinies of the people they will meet. And, they’ll
have an opportunity to entrust their lives to Jesus Christ more
completely than ever before.
